“Although I had long been a fan of Philip Sheppard, Composer, before we met, until he graciously agreed to present at the EG conference I had no idea of his talent as a virtuosic performer, innovator, improviser, motivator, tech wizard and – above all – human being. Each of Philip’s presentations has been unique and sensitively tailored to the audience, the day, and the mood of the moment, often using source material curated on the spot. So let me add “magician” to that roster of talents! In the Keynote Philip did for our 2017 meeting, he recorded the most intriguing and sensitive bits from the presenters who preceded him and played back for us a beautiful composition based on and incorporating these elements, gifting us with a portrait of the conference that we will treasure forever.
